The conversion and development of the first smart street in Romania

Project objective

Molnar Piuariu Street is located in the second most densely populated neighborhood in Cluj-Napoca and with the smallest recreational area in relation to the number of inhabitants. The street strictly serves access to the riverside: a university campus, collective or individual housing and commercial spaces. With about 1700 students, the campus produces an acute need for public spaces with related services and facilities. Due to the large number of parked cars, the lack of organization or demarcation between road surface and sidewalks, the shortage of trees and green spaces, the accessibility and attractiveness of pedestrian movement was a major inconvenience.
